Spent the night on the shore last night, 6/5, eager as all hell to wake up and kayak-fish the early morning water. Started the day off at 5:30am hunting for lmb. Thanks to the risen water level, there were a variety of sunken tree patches that'll serve as nice bass habitats in the future - Within the first hour, I cruised into one of these sunken patches pitching soft plastics and hooked into a really healthy, good sized hoglet about 1.5 - 2 lbs! Great start to the morning...From that time forward, I was forced to strand the kayak and myself on the opposite side of the wash for hours and hours waiting for the insane white caps to die down! The wind was ruthless! For 4 hours I walked the banks trying for lmb and smb, but no luck. At 1 pm the waves died down and I retraced my path. Looking a bit like Wesley Snipes from the intense sun, I drifted into one last cove where I pulled in another beautiful lmb on a purple hand-poured drop shot - With that last taste of victory, I headed back to the car where I saw two guys in front of the small island (Beside the now sunken peninsula) who had a stringer covered w/ sizable channel cats!
