Bass fishing is still very good at times on Lake Lowell. We are five days away from the full moon, when I expect we will have most of the spawn take place. Most of the fish I have been catching don't appear to be ready to spawn, but the next few days might make a change. The smartweed is still just emerging, but the lake has now steadied out and has not gained any water in the past three days. The cottonwoods are just starting to drop their seeds and soon fishermen will have "cotton" sticking to their line, guides, and even on the reel spools. It's just one of the prices you pay for getting back in the trees. The sticky green algae is also appearing in spots.
Last evening I fished for an hour without a strike, and then caught 11 nice bass in the next 50 minutes in the same area, and with the same bait I had fished previously. It's a strange lake and very tough to figure out - if anyone can.

Are this fish still out in the weeds? Hope so. I'm not good enough to chase them back in the trees.

Jake, there are plenty of fish in the weeds, and the smartweed is really nice to fish now. I don't think you need to be good to catch them in the trees - just willing to dig them out.

went out this morning... didn't do great and was out fished by my 12 yo son. he landed 4 smallies and one large mouth. He lost one really nice smallie. I managed to hook into one of those fat carp but didn't end up getting all of him in.. just a couple scales. Saw some guy going full speed through the no wake area..
Was a beautiful morning...

I'll head out there this weekend for a few hours.
