Hi All,
New to Utah and fresh water fishing but loving it!!! Here is a bit of info of a trip we took up to Deer Creek on Saturday if you are interested.
Hit the water around 6:45 had a rod in the water by 6:55 had a nice rainbow by 7am (Caught on a Rapala small minnow that dive 5 - 11 ft) . Alas the great start did not continue. Trolled the northern end for about 2 hrs with no more succes. Decided to drfit a while. Changed up to a lipless shad (the ones supposed to be for Wipers? Sorry for the vagueness, as I say still being learndered in this part of the world as maybe TD would say hahahah). Anyway the other two in the boat started with worms and powerbait but I was determined to jag another fish on my new baitcaster and 8 foot 6 inch rod. (yeah I know it's a bit big for a boat but when you have a new toy you gotta try it out right?). . So after about 2hrs of drifting, the wind blew up and it started to get uncomfortable but we decided to continue on. We started trolling again and hit another couple of nice rainbows right at the northern end in about 17 ft of water. The fishing actually got better after the wind picked up and the other boats left the area. Overall a top day.
