Artificial craws?

Has anyone ever tried using those artificial craws they sell at Walmart? I am heading to hyrum this week, and last time I was there I saw someone doing well using live ones and I was wondering if artificial ones would work as well? How would you fish them? Do you just toss them and leave them out there like they were doing with the real ones, or slowly real them in?

You can use live crawdads if you are using them at the same time and body of water that you caught them from. It is illegal to transport live 'dads away from any water in Utah. I had to throw that in there.
