I was really looking forward to fishing my first CFF TX but had to put the rig in the shop. carbs have to be rebuilt; ethanol got the best of them. Got the shakes so I loaded up the ultra lites and the fly rod and a cage of crickets and hit the river; started out fishing crappie rigs but no luck, put a cricket on the fly rod and caught 4, and 2 swallowed the hook and I was out of tippet so I swapped over to the spinning reel, I found the sweet spot in the current, 2 1/2 ft. past the strong side of the current seam, I started catching shad/shipjack whatever you call them but they are fun on ultra lites, out of 50 crickets only 9 didnt produce fish, 2 small redeye, 6 bream and the rest were skipjack. I had a blast! I dont know what drumking thinks about shad but I wasnt catching greenbacks!
