I figured I would share what i've found to be a great hand load for sub-MOA groups at 100 yards, with Marlin XL7 bolt action .270 rifles. I've been experimenting with 130 grain bullets, as I was using 140's with decent success, but I wanted a little faster bullet. After some trial and error, this is what i've come up with.
Bullet: Nosler 130 grain Ballistic tip (yellow tip)
Brass: Hornady, measured to 2.54" length
Primer: CCI
Powder: IMR 4895
Powder load: 46 even
In order to achieve sub-moa groups, note that I digitally weigh the bullet and load, to with in a tenth of a grain one way or another. anymore or less than a tenth, it doesn't fly. The type of brass is less significant as the length. I would use a case as short as 2.53. I use a digital micrometer to measure exact length. Enjoy! Time to get them ready for deer season!
