Crawdads
#1
Looking for a nice spot to throw a line out and let the kids catch some crawdads at the same time. Is there many dads in Renegade Bay at Strawberry? What about Deer Creek, many dads there? I usually have good luck for dads at Scofield, but I am frustrated with the fishing up there right now (even the DWR fishing report sounds bleak: " Fishing success has been unpredictable, but tends to be on the slow side. Mike Keller fished on June 19, and his party of four caught 20 trout ranging from 6 to eight inches and two trout in the 12-inch range.")

6-8 inches.....wow!

Thanks,

[Image: 005-4.jpg]We got about 40 of them up at Rockport last Sunday with worms on our lines. Took about 2 hours or so.

I would assume that if you take some chicken or even have a trap you could do way better than we did.

Went to the Berry 2 weeks ago and there were tons in the weeds and they were dormant or something. We just picked up up by hand they barely moved. Wasnt till I got home and they warmed up that the "came back to life."

Dang good thing you weren't checked by a C.O. Transporting live crawdads is a no-no. I always pull the middle "tailfeathers" out then twist the tail off & just keep that. How big were the ones you caught?

They were from medium to pretty large. They were just in the grass cause the water levels so high. Thanks for the advice I will make better sure they're dead cause ice won't kill um. I thought they would have died they are tough suckers.
