Starvation UT, July 4th Weekend
#1
Sooo.... Me and the wife decided to head up to the "Mini Lake Powell" she calls it this past weekend. She went for the sun an beach, I went for the fish! Turns out I got a little bit more sun then she did tho Wink.

The weather turned out to be AWESOME! Probably one of thee best Starvation trips in the past few years up there. Wind blew a little bit Sunday night and Monday morning as a storm rolled in. Temps were between 70-90 degrees during the day. Water was glass most of the weekend with a few boaters in the cove. Nothing to major tho. Place wasn't to packed, we managed to find a spot. After we went over to Indian Bay for a night, got into a confrontation with a few other campers over there and decided to go where their were less people! Indian Bay was SLAMMED!

Got to try out the new ODC 420L this trip. I didn't have it all setup with rod holders and what not so. Didn't fish to much out of it, but can't honestly say I LOVE IT!! Much much MUCH better then fishing from a donut style tube. Can't wait till i can get it rigged up and ready to go. I fished anywhere from 10-30ish feet. Most all the smaller perch were closer to the bank. The Walleye came from about 15' of water off the RC! That jig was catching fish all day long. I only caught the one Walleye unfortunately. But I was having more fun with the "Starvation Steelhead" anyways. Man do those Bows know how to fight! I lost 2, drug in a total of 3, all within 18-19 inches. Had the Line snap right at the swivel on one. Bent the hook to a 90 on the second after getting it within about 10 feet to me and 5 minutes of fighting the bugger and 10 jumps out of the water. Not to mention wrapping itself vigorously around my second line I had out! Made for an interesting time. but was still a hoot! Caught two bows on the RC, & one on just dropping a worm and power bait 4' off the bottom to keep out of the perch. I need to widen my tackle just a little bit more.

All In all, made for an awesome weekend and can't wait to go back for some more!

Nice and fun weekend for sure. Can't wait to get up there again myself. Seems like every time I plan on going something else comes up. Lets see what this week brings.[angelic] Got a few things to do first.

I think you will definately enjoy your tube with the mods done. You will want to spend more time in it.

I will say that Starvation is definitely on my top list for being one of the funnest lakes for fishing. You can pretty much catch fish all day long, and a mixed bag of them as well. Very enjoyable!

Nice assortment of fish! Looks like it was a great day for you. It sure is great to have some semi-calm float tubing weather for a change!

Ditto on a great Sunday at the church of my my choice, Starvation. I managed a really nice smally on the fly rod with a bugger and limited out on 18" and 19" slimmers.

Worked the buoys off Juniper beach with a bottom bouncer and worm harness and came up empty handed on the Wallies but I'm gonna keep trying.

All in all a great day. Amen
