Grimes Creek
#1
Hiya everyone I was wondering if anyone could share a little info about Grimes Creek. I'm not interested in trophy fish just looking for a safe place to get the family into the mountains to fish. This place comes up alot while I'm out and about, any suggestions for a family friendly experience?

if the creek isn't blown out there are a few trout . as far as a family experiance i can't say. i will say teenagers like to party up there a good bit. but you may well find a out of the way spot. i would imagine the camping areas will be rowdy but who knows

I was up there during the week last week. I got 5 brook and 2 rainbow in about an hour and a half. One rainbow was 13 inches, the others ranged between 7 and 10. I was using worms, while my brother in law was fly fishing (he didn't get one until he switched to live bait).

I would say this, the fishing was not easy fishing. The holes are few and far between, there is a lot of growth around the holes and there are some tight casts needed. We were five miles in off of 21 and some spots were tricky to climb down from the road to the river.

The fish also were pretty spooked (typical for this type of fishing in my opinion). Definitely need to sneak up on some holes.

But, if it is any indication of the fishing, I am heading back up there tomorrow.
