What started out as a family flotilla attacking Starvation Reservoir turned into a Daddy Daughter affair since my son wasn't feeling to well once we got to the reservoir. This of course quickly turned into a slime.[laugh] We launched to perfect conditions at 7 am in bunny gulch. Water temps a nice 67. The water levels are up and lots of flooded brush. Found all the fishies up close to shore. I quickly had a couple of perch on line ranging from dinks to 9 inchers plus. My daughter went out with two poles and succeded in turning three into knots right away. While I was untying and rerigging one of her rods she proceeded to tie up my drop shot rig. So finally after rerigging we headed out for more fish. While floating with the breeze and motoring back my daughter hooked into a nice smallmouth bass. Her first. Shortly thereafter she cuaght a nice Yellow perch as well. Both on a chartreuse with silver flake jig. I was able to boat a small wallette at 9 inches. We were both on our way to slime city. She soon got bored after a three hour jaunt in the bay. I dropped her off on shore to play for a while and headed back out. Since I got tired of messing with the perch I headed across the bay to see what I could find. Found a nice area of flooded trees and started to throw a jig. WHAM! (I love that word).[cool] Hooked into something rather large. Got it to the toon and thought I had a chub. Upon further inspection a nice smallmouth probably around 12 inches. It was camera shy and decided to take off with my mangled hook just before I was able to get my camera out. After messing with the smallies a while longer decided to head back to the car when I saw and heard the thunder heads in the distance. Started to drag a woolly bugger behind me and had a hit. Missed the hook up and continued when another hit. This time I got the hook up, turned out to a be a nice 15 inch rainbow trout. After a nice photo shoot the rainbow was invited home to dinner with mamatrout.[
] Had one more really good hit and miss before I got back just as the forecasted wind and storm picked up. Good time to hit the shore and got packed up just in time as a gully washer hit the lake. All in all a great day spent at Starvation. Hope to get back soon.
Also this was a great trip to see how I could haul the minnows tubes and mamatrouts FC4 on the toon trailer. All worked out well.[cool]
