What A Full Moon...
#1
They say 3 days prior and 3 days after a Full Moon along with the Full Moon one can find the best fish'n...now mind you we're not really followers of the Full Moon, Moon Rise, Moon Set times including major and minor times etc...we may become more watchful of this but our records hasn't provided reliable data...

For us the reliable data comes from time on the water, being in the right place, right time, the presentation, working techniques, and of course the ever present 3Ps...one of the best days of fish'n for the beast this year. [Image: icon_biggrin.gif]

4 boated roughly 161" of fish in short order, with 2 40" plus coming unpinned and yep the SMB still like our offerings.

On the water roughly 0630 off 1330.

Those are beauties! I got on the water just about the timd you were leaving. You totally debunked my theory . I was thinking it was impossible to catch fish at pineview with that many boats on the the water. Thanks for the post & keep up the good

We caught these using both techniques casting and trolling. For us there's a definite window to cast and then a window where trolling comes into play. Then we also cast while we troll using both techniques at the same time.

We've caught fish during the heat of the rec boater on slaught rocking up and down swaying side to side and sever boat buffeting...makes it a PITA to cut hooks and remove lures while the fish is in the net when your at water level then the rec boater waves hit and the side of the boat is 4' up in the air slamming back down to the water.

Very Nice ... very nice ....

Oh, and I dig that measuring board you are using there. What make/model is it? I'd like to read up on them and maybe get one.

Here's a link to the bump board a great piece of equipment for accurate large fish measuring and used on many pro-muskie circuits...

Also I've been asked what we use to cut hooks...another must piece of equipment reduces time to remove hooks...also from personal experience when a fish flops in the net and the treble finds a hand, forearm, finger...sure glad we had these else fish'n partner would've had a serious injury...treble went completely through and out a finger while lure was still hooked to fish...grabbed these cut the hook...we have the spring loaded ones.

For us its having the proper equipment in the boat and within an arms reach...but these items are pricey.

Interesting post on the moon phase... Trying to pattern other fish and sometimes that moon phase stuff works. But 50-50 chance is not the most beneficial pattern. I did notice a size increase with the moon phase stuff, but cannot apply it to the muskies as I usually only do it once or twice a year if I am lucky.

Those are some great fish! There's nothing like hooking one of those toothy critters and watching it come up from the green abyss! The first chance you have to catch a glimpse of them and realize just how big it is...that feeling NEVER gets old!

I just wanted to comment on what you said about having the right equipment. I couldn't agree with you more! Not only is it smart to have keeping you and your fishing partners safe, but as quality anglers we owe it to the fish we catch to use quality equipment. I like to think of it as respect to the fish. I was taught at a VERY young age to respect the outdoors and everything that I "chase" that calls those outdoors home. My dad (portofthesea) has taught me that it is worth the extra money spent to use quality equipment that will not only last, but will give you, and more importantly the fish/animals, the best chance at success.

Whether it be safely releasing a fish back to the water or a quick, clean kill on the mountainside, we owe it to these creatures to equip ourselves with quality to achieve these goals. In my eyes, I will gladly spend the extra money on equipment that is of high quality.

Anyway, now that I'm off my soap box, congrats on some great fish and I'm sure some great times!

That's why they're "The Fish of 10 Casts"...or something like that.[Image: dumb.gif][Image: happy.gif]

Awesome post and even greater lesson in how to fish, Kim.
