Hit Callville bay first thing Friday morning, was on the water by 4:45 am. Started the morning hitting several coves north of the marina. Was hunting some LMB but not much love, a few hits but nothing major.
Once the sun broke I started to see a lot of top water from the strippers pushing the shad. Wrapped up the finesse and went to my stripper gear. Over about 2 hours I hit 5 different boils all within two coves, it was on fire! Each boil lasted 10-30 minutes. Threw nothing but top water and every cast in the boils except for a few brought in a fish....expect for the fat bastard that nearly spooled my reel before taking off with my lucky spook. I never got a good look at it but he exploded on my lure and pulled hard...enough to turn my boat...until snapping my line. Made the mistake of using my light weight trout rod with 6lb test....
Once it died off i hit a third cove, no love on the fishes but i had two nice big horn sheep walk right up on me. At one point i was less then 5 ft away from them and they didnt seem to mind. Attached a few pics.
Overall an awesome morning fishing, I was on the water for about 5.5 hours, lost count of how many i threw back, would guess 25. They were not real big but still fun. I kept three the didnt look like they were going to fare well if i released them. Definitely going back this weekend.
