Long story short, my buddy was just called into active service and cannot go hunting with me this year. He was going to take me to Monte Cristo elk hunting to some of the spots he had good luck in the past, and now, alas, can't go. I have an any bull tag and am familiar with Monte, but have a few questions:
1. Should I switch to a spike tag? Seems like there is less pressure and all I want is meat. If someone wants to share an "area" they have good luck with--not your "honey hole" that would be good too. I was thinking about hitting the bug lake area.
2. I was told by my buddy we would be hunting in the sawmill/hansen canyon area. I have looked at the maps and found them. Anyone have any luck here? Any suggestions? a PM is okay.
3. I do muzzle loader hunt. Anyone have good luck doing this? I could change to that hunt as well.
I have seven days to hunt this year and will go out and pre-scout where I can.
