Small Streams?

I've lived in ririe for a few months now and don't know this area very well i was wondering if there were any small creeks around with good fly fishing, i see lots of post but the few small waters i have tried have been busts for fly fishing. I know posting locations might be bad juju but if you could help me out with a pm i'd sure appreciate it.

Most of the streams that run into Palies can be good if you hike far enough to get out of the areas that are heavily fished. In fact that goes for all streams. I find an access area. Then I hike a ways to get away from the roads.

There really are more good creeks than bad creeks in my opinion. you just have to keep checking out new areas until you find the real gold mines. They change from year to year as well. Some creeks that were good are not and others that were not so hot are improving.

As Windriver said try any of the streams off of the South Fork all the way up past Palies Res.

The ones that come off of the west side of the Tetons may still have too much runoff.

Lots of stuff around. I live in Rigby and have found a lot of great small water in the area. I second the suggestion of the small tribs into the upper South Fork like Palies Creek. Also check into those flowing into Palies Reservoir like Bear Creek.

Go north and you will find Warm River and Robinson Creek just northeast of Ashton, along with the Buffalo River that runs into the Box Canyon of the Snake up near Pond's Lodge in Island Park.

Also, one of the best small stream experiences you'll find is Birch Creek northwest of Rexburg on the Salmon highway. Lots of small bows and brookies, enough to keep you busy all day long.
