Hit the water at 5 am out of Boulder Beach and headed to the wash. We ended up in the large cove just before hole 33. Started with top water while the 3 other guys on the boat were dropping chovies, I had some luck but only dinks. Right around 6 am the cove just came alive. For over an hour the entire cove was a boil, it was pretty cool...a lot of fish. They were definitely on the Shad. Unfortunately we took my buddies boat, which to say the least is not one to sneak up on a boil in. Anytime we tried to get close enough to one he would scare them away. Sooo lots of top water with very little fish in the boat but it was a good day on the water nonetheless. One thing is for sure....taking my boat next time.
