few days back my buddy and I decided to round up our two year olds and take the boat out to benson for a couple hours. We were fishing for crappie but only had an hour to do so before it got dark. We decided to try for a catfish or a walleye once it got dark. I ended up catching this monster, we let the kids touch it (they were freaking out) then let it go, I had my fill of catfish early spring, plus they don't taste good once they get over 8 pounds I have found. The kids had a blast and I had a great time fighting that fish on 8 pound test. This is my first time posting a picture(and I'm doing it from my phone) so I hope it works out. Feel free to make fun of me if it doesn't I can handle it

Yep, that's a big one all right. Did you happen to put a tape measure on it?

Now wonder they were freaking out - looks like a glow-in-the-dark monster from Scooby Doo or something!
Nice cat. Bet that's pushing at least 15lbs by the looks. I'd guess 30+ inches.
Mind my asking - what's you catch it on?

Nope we went in my buddys boat so I just grabbed the essential which mostly consisted of snacks and drinks to keep the kids happy. I was gonna grab my scale but we were just going after crappie so I didn't think I would need it The only thing I can reference it off of is two I weighed earlier this summer. One was 8 and the other was a hair under 9. The fish with the kids seems to be several inches longer and a few pounds heavier, wish I coulda had a scale so I knew for sure, all I know is it was a good one.

Nice job! I am with lava and utcatman - probably around 12 lbs or so. I bet it was fun pulling that thing in. I know what you mean about the 2-year-olds freaking out. My boy is 2 and when I bring a fish home, he is all excited. Then he touches it and runs the other way.
