This how it went.
I took out KennyC and his daughter Ive 11Yrs old for her very first youth hunt and the pressure was on she had never shot a duck and I was going to try my best to make it happen.
We got to farmington at 5:30 AM and it was packed as expected [:/] but everyone was hunting the turpin and all the other big ponds so I wasn't to worried about having to hunt with the masses I dropped in a small canal and we headed out. are nearest group was some airboaters about 1000yds away so we had the whole area to ourselves and the ducks where dropping in on us before shooting time and the excitement was building.[sly]
There was a few early shots but most waited tell legal shooting time and the fun began.
Ive was a little leary of the gun because last year she had a mishap with a single shot 20 gauge and it gave her a fat lip and a bloody nose.[:/] I told her not to be scared and to just take a few shots at the sky to get the jitters worked out and she got comfortable with it.
there was allot of ducks coming in by then and she pulled up on a flock of teal and two fell from the sky[laugh] her dad (birddog) jumped out of the boat and did a perfect retrieve.then as soon as he got back in the boat another flock of teal buzzed the blocks she shot and another bird hit the water. Dad looked at her and
d and off to do another retrieve. she was shooting very well I was very surprised but happy she was getting shots and birds where falling. from then on it was shots and misses but she was having a blast and I was having a blast to. ducks where coming in like a magnet she finally got another duck a smiling mallard that almost landed on use stoned it and dad was happy for the short retrieve[laugh] It was around 3:00 pm and box and half shells where shot and her shoulder was getting sore and she was getting hungry for a big hamburger so we took off. I will defintly do this again it was so much fun watching the kid have so much fun.
