Yeah my neighbor has a good friend that gets into them all the time. He is tight lipped on what he uses and where but my guess is the painted rocks area by what I have been told. All I can say is they are in there and they are catch-able. Just got to find what they like I guess.

The guy is more tight lipped than a tiger muskie fisherman! I have been trying to bribe my neighbor with cooked "fish donations" but he can't even get it out of the guy himself even though he is a wake boarder dude at yuba not a fisherman.

My guess is all you are gonna get is carp. The place is full of them, and that is all I have seen down there when I spent an entire summer down there a few years ago. Good luck to ya.

So when you say "northerns" you're talking about Pike at that Southern res? My son keeps bugging to venture down there. HE wants to hook up a toothy mug that doesn't have to go back. Need to drag him out on my next Musky venture, but don't ask me how I caught em. I won't tell (duoh! But I might show ya a picture!)

Still waiting to catch one when I MEAN to. Gotta get that top-water slapped! Maybe a Wiper'll do it for me.

yep northern pike coyote. my buddy caught a 19 pounder couple of years ago. theres been talk of the "crash" as yuba is a boom and bust lake. fish weedless right up in the brush with heavy braid. rapalas work great too just be prepared to lose a bunch or spend half your day chasing snags!! hope this helps! One of my students texted me pictures of some "dinosaur" fish he caught from Yuba just a couple days ago. He didn't have a clue of what he was doing or what the fish were...in fact, he was afraid to touch them because of their teeth. I thought for sure the fish were going to be pike before I looked at the pictures...but, they were walleye. He said he caught about 7 of them in just a couple hours. The biggest one was 24 inches long and the smaller ones were around 14 inches. He was casting a small spinner by the dam....crazy, I know. But, I saw the pics!
