Gov't Wash 10-15
#1
So I left this morning around 5 am to arrive at Gov't Wash in time to watch the night anglers pull out their boats. I had to cool my heels for 15 minutes waiting for a spot to launch.

It took awhile to rig up the kayak so set out on the water as the sun was coming up. Gov't Wash was quiet this morning, no boils or fish found. I did see some light rises but caught nothing on the Rat-L. So I headed to Hole 33 where there was no action. I saw some boats fishing further up Vegas Wash toward the confluence. I paddled nearby these boats with enough space to be courteous. The fishfinder light up with tons of shad near the bottom (about 60 ft depth) so I dropped a line with cut anchovy and hooked up within minutes. Caught a 2lber, rebaited and dropped again for another hook up with another 2bler.

After that the bite was off and I sat for awhile with the bait while vertical jigging a spoon. Nothing. Headed back to the car by noon thirty and packed up.

It seems that two fish are my personal limit at the Lake. The boat nearby where catching pretty good. Liked like they were livelining shad. This is the second time I've seen better luck on live shad. Too bad I don't have a casting net, might have to try it myself.
