Stiper Smackdown at Gumment Wash
#1
Today was my first day of really going after stripers very successfully - Me and my buddy Camilo took the kayak to govt wash around 10:30 this morning, and right off the bat started hooking up on nice solid fish on the banks. As soon as we got down to the water, I started walking around the coves where the sunken brush and trees are, and sure enough, a few nice stripers were bullying clouds of shad up to the surface, so I stayed there most of the day and caught 7 stripers a dink largemouth lol [cool] After hearing people talk about cotton cordells and ratltraps that was all I used today successfully. This was the best day I've had in a while, very fulfilled [cool] I feel like I've missed out on the best kind of fishing at mead for a long time

[cool]Nice day out there. The rattletrap is always successful for me . I like the way the stripers slam it.

Glad you got to enjoy em before it gets bitter cold. I love those cotton cordell super spots the chrome/black seems to be killer for me. The hooks are crap I swap em out for some up sized quality trebles. Such a versatile bait hands down one of my favs.

Sounds like a great day!

Hope to play hooky from work Friday and do some kayak fishing at Gov't Wash.

I want to try out my new Fishfinder/GPS combo. (Actually I bought it used from Ebay for $58, free shipping. It was the head only, I have the transducer for it from my other ff, it uses the same rig. Don't have to remount the transducer in the kayak well, just plug and play)

Thanks again for all the tips on striper action everyone! I feel like a new man! I tried out around the same spot today and got skunked over - caught only 1 striper after hours of walking and casting, and finally......I lost my favorite ratltrap =/ I had a decent small mouth pull it down under a sunken tree. Man, I was heart broken. New ones never seem to work as well as the beat up/over-fished lures.
