looking in the proc it looks like spotliting is ok as long as your not hunting protected specis like Deer, Elk, stuff like that..
but i talked to some of my hunnting buddys and they said that haveing a spot light in the truck with a gun could get me in big truble?
i want to find out for sure me and my boy Jonny have been going out at sunset and hunting racoons.. been seeing a bunch of them too.. problem is once it get's dark ya can see them.. a spot light would help a lot..
any one know for sure if it's ok to spot light for racoon, coyotes, stuff like that?

Hey Ron
Spot lighting is on a county by county basis if you call your local sheriff dept and they give you the ok then go for it.But you have to have written permission by them to do it. And carry it with you at all times just in case. You also have to be out of your vehicle you can not spotlight from any motorized vehicle you have to be on foot then you legal.
good luck sounds like fun!

But the side view mirror is the perfect gun rest. What about spotlighting from a boat? I know a boat is motorized but what if it isn't under power? I spotlight for coons every winter and it's true as long as you let the proper authorities know you should be golden. I never understood why guys use hounds to tree coons since they're already in them to begin with.

LOL! You can shoot from a boat as long as it is not under power. And I think stationary? Not sure about the spotlighting from a boat.I'm sure the same rules apply

Good luck on finding out if you can or not. Juab county used to sell spotlighting permits in the early 90's until they found out they were not legal. After that they just told us they weren't sure about the law and to ask someone else. Go figure.[crazy] Sorry this doesn't help much.
