Explored the ice today. It was safe enough (4.0 ") at all the major access points. However, I explored miles of terrain and found one area around an expansion crack that was dangerous (1/2" thick) and one very large section of the reservoir with only 2" of ice. Forum contributors are welcome to PM me for details.
The ice was clear and bare so will be reliable at 4" or better within 1/4 mile of major access points and should thicken over the next couple of days. However, to my dismay, it started to snow as I was leaving today (December 2, 2011) at about 1:30 PM. That may be the wild card for exploring the remote areas -- if it does not blow off....

We fished it Tuesday and like mentioned in another Ice post the fishing sucked. Four of us had over 15 poles in the water and we only landed 3. And one was 10". I hope it was just the cold front going through. We are trying again in the morning.

Fast Randy,
It was perfectly slow for me today. Any faster and I would have lost poles. I will try to post a photo by the old method since the new rules don't seem to be working for me. Wish me luck.

Curt and Idaho,
Thanks you guys. I guess the worm finally turned as far my luck goes. I was going to avoid starting the gold rush but it was becoming obvious that I had miscommunicated. I care about helping some of the regulars on here and it is not very often that I can do so....

It is all good. No, mad house. It is just walking on water. I do like your flys. Really! I might need some. Please, Santa. Really.

We were on the ice at 0730 saturday. It was slow fishing again. I did catch my biggeast trout ever though at 4 lbs. And David landed a 3 3/4 lber. I had two break off. Don't try fishing here with 6lb. test.
