swattin ducks

Went to our spot in Duchesne (thanks OEJ). Third year hunting with Mr Mike. God I love duck hunting.

Truck was bouncing from 4 - 8 degrees on the over head temp thingy. very freekin cold.

on the way into the blind, we kicked about 150-200 ducks off the water. set up and waited for them to return. some did, but most did not, like in trips past. lots of mallards up there, but they were not moving around. we shot 4 green heads and one hen... for mallards. tons of wigeon. i mean tons. very slow, but when a flock came in, we would bust 2-3 and managed to scratch out 3 limits by 1:00.

ended up with a red head hen, the 5 mallards, one gaddie, a nice 4 inch sprig pin and the rest were a mix of hen and drake wigeon. another great shoot. froze our butts off, but worth it. pics are on my brothers camera. will post when i get them.

lots of geese up on the Indian res, but headed to the corn fields. we couldn't turn them our way.

We use to hunt up there a lot. We would hunt public/private land and would also hunt on the indian rez. Got pretty expensive hunting on the rez. and gas money also so we stopped. I haven't been up there in a long time. Sounds like it hasn't changed a bit. I have had some of my greatest hunts up there. Kind of miss it but at the same time I like the money in my wallet. Maybe when I am out of school I will hunt up there again.

very nicely done! that's waterfowl heaven up there and the warm springs all over the place keep it good till the end of the season. I'm hoping to get out a few more times before it's all over and I start looking forward to spring fishing again!
