fished winchester yesterday and tried to find the gills crappie and or perch and could not. the ice was crystal clear and 4 to 5 inches thick. we fished the whole west side punching holes any where i could possible think the panfish would be but to no avail. there were about 5 other fisherman out there through out the day and none of them got into the panfish either. one guy with a vexilar said he could find them but couldnt get them to bite anything and we talked to fish and game and they said that everybody they have checked had not been able to get the panfish to commit. on a side note the planter trout fishing was good like always but you had to constantly jig your setup if you let it sit you would go about 30 minutes without a bite if you jigged you would hook one about every 5 minutes. my son even got 4 all by himself.

Great picture, pretty area, and kids fishing are over the top!
Too bad on the no panfish, but those are nice trout.

Not sure if you hooked some fish here, or a kid. Fishing with little ones is awesome.

It is also nice to see a report and some pictures about some different areas of the state.
Sometime we are going to have to do some vacationing up that way to visit some new to us areas. Thanks for posting the report.

Gotta love that picture. I have lots of good memories about Winchester. If you haven't been there, it is just off Hwy. 95. After checking it out, continue on the road up to the wolf preserve (just a short distance beyond.) Mike
