decoying mallards with FISHINFOOL
#1
My wife and I met up with Tony and a buddy yesterday morning for a beautifully crisp morning on the pond. Motored out, us following Tony in his scanoe, had to bust through some ice but we made it to the spot and set up. Nothin. Oh well, I had brought some hot soup in my thermos which tasted like manna out in the marsh.

Ducks started flying around 2, singles and doubles of mallards that we made very few misses on. Saw a few pinnys that wanted nothing to do with us but we had a flock of gadwalls come out of nowhere and were feet down before everyone knew they were there, I managed to bust one and what a beautiful bird![inline downsized_1215111655.jpg]
Kept hunting and LOTS of birds kept flying but not many wanted to commit. Ended up with a handful of birds but we really enjoyed the day out, thanks again Tony![inline downsized_1215111656.jpg][inline downsized_1215111654.jpg]

Your welcome[Wink], It was a allot of fun hunting with you two and me and my buddy enjoyed hunting with both of you. I knew they would start flying in the afternoon they have been doing that the past 2-3 weeks but they sure wanted to be in that other spot just south east of use. kind of weird that they wanted a couple small holes in the ice instead of the big wide open area we were hunting[:/].But that is mallards for ya. Bad timing also added to the lack of success but they always seem to want in when people are out trying to find downed birds [Wink] adjusting decoys, eating a sandwich, just the rule of the swamp right. LOL!
still a good time. and we got the best to come. fresh birds will arrive and they will decoy better.
