Walters Promoted Fish Management Supervisor for Southwest Ohi
#1
XENIA, OH -Fisheries biologist Debra Walters has been promoted to Fish Management Supervisor for the ODNR Division of Wildlife's District Five. The district covers 17 counties throughout southwest Ohio. Walters succeeds Doug Maloney who recently retired after more than thirty years with the Division of Wildlife.

"Debbie has a thorough understanding of the Division of Wildlife's mission and how all the branches of our agency interact and operate," said Todd Haines, District Five Manager. "She also has the leadership qualities necessary for supervising the fish section that has to cover a large region including approximately 18 inland lakes, the ponds located on the District Five wildlife areas and the western section of the Ohio River."

As the district's Fish Management Supervisor, Walters will coordinate all fisheries programs and projects for the district. Walters began her supervisory duties on October 9th.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge; it's a great opportunity," said Walters, a 29-year Division of Wildlife veteran.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Walters obtained a Bachelors Degree in Fish and Wildlife Management from University of Missouri and her Master's from The Ohio State University. Walters has spent her career in the District Five Fish Unit as a biologist.
