Echo?

Any recent Echo reports for ice fishing? I heard a rumor it's capped any want to go in the morning.

Drove down the East side Fri., the end near the damn is capped. Seen one guy fishing about 75 feet out. Called out to him for info, he said the ice was 4 or 5 in. no fish.

I was there with Catfish today and we saw stream in the early morning. When I was driving out, I saw four areas I guess to be the size of football fields that were still open. The ice is not for the faint of heart. It was loud and cracking all day, then the cracks would flood a bit. also a side note it was 9 degrees on the truck temp gauge when I arrived today.

I heard somewhere they were going to drain echo and do repairs on the dam a few months ago,,any truth to that??how was the water level??Thanks

There was quite a bit of open water on Echo when I drove by on the 17th in the afternoon, but the reports of a few guys on the South West end is true. They were actually fishing on it. I don't think I would be out there yet for another few days, but there are some braver souls than I.

I was out on the west end with Catfish and Jones4fish and can attest to that thin ice...not for the faint of heart is correct...It was safe to our standards but all precautions were necessary ( I wore my floaties) ...Saw some brave souls walking out to the highway side...[shocked]...Fishing was good, but probably next week for solid and safe ice...
