American Falls-Edson Fichter -Montpelier Reports
#1
Had a pretty good weekend fishing and although it was not all productive I loved every minute of it!

12-17-11
American Falls looked like Minnesota, but all were good fishermen and had some very good conversations. Fished the morning till noon near the boatramp and only had two bites. Only saw one fish landed and only heard of two others caught. The highlight was the loudest ice pop I have ever experienced; the thing shook the richter scale! Everyone seemed to comment on it! What would I have given to have a rookie next to me when it went off!

Edson Fichter 12-17 2:00-5:00: I know--its for kids[blush], but if you know anything about me I love to fish new spots! If you want a banana trout this is the place to go. Iced 9 bananas and 5 bows in three hours. I am very impressed with Fish and Game for doing this I loved how it has a community feel, reminds me a lot of Rexburg Ponds. Take your kids here there are tons of geese flying, the trains stop right there waiting for their opportunity to go through Pocatello, and it is quite social. I wont be there again this year, but I am glad I took the time.

30 Perch/ 13 Trout (Cutts and Bows) 1 Koke!

I made my annual trip to Montpelier, slept in which does not matter with this place and set up by 9:00 AM. Had action all day, moved once hoping to get a koke, which I did. Fished in 40 feet of water, and marked perch all day I can honestly say I have never seen so many 6.5'' perch in my life; one after the other like they are cloans. The cutts were often suspended at 20' , as was the koke. If I fished it tomorrow would put four poles with pink at 20' hoping for the cutts/koke and just fish for perch with one pole. I had the honor of meeting Outdoorsman1--it was great to talk fishing with you; I hope you get to keep sampling the waters like we both like to do!

Went to my parents at 3:00 and had a fish fry, plan on eating perch tomorrow!

By the number of reports tonight I think we all did well!

Best,

That was the loudest ice pop ever, then it seemed liked the ice bounced up and down for two or three seconds after kinda creepy......

I did manage to catch a couple trout and two small perch. The trout were in the 18-19" range. Caught all my fish using the new Maniac Gazilla tipped with a meal worm.

Glad you got a couple, you sure earned them! Yeah it really did bounce; I heard a lot of cleaning shorts comments--glad I was there to experience it.
