SO I HAVE A 8 INCH NILS HAND AUGER THAT WAS MY UNCLES AND WAS GIVEN TO ME AFTER HE PASSED AWAY. THE BLADE IS IN PRETTY ROUGH SHAPE BUT I THINK IT CAN BE RESHARPENED, BUT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE SENT AWAY TO MINNISOTA TO BE SHARPENED. ANYONE ON HERE HAD ONE RESHARPENED OR WOULD I BE BETTER OF BUYING A NEW BLADE. COST TO HAVE IS SHARPENED WOULD BE 20$ PLUS S&H NEW BLADES RUN FROM 60-90$. I HAD THOUGHT ABOUT JUST BUYING A NEW AUGER BUT EVERYTHING I READ SAYS THIS AUGER IS ONE OF THE BEST

that was my idea to. i called the guy he said if he couldnt sharpen it up he would only charge the shipping to send it back. My main concern is if the blade will dull quicker than if i bought a new one... that and the time i have to wait for it to come back

well you could always try it and see if it doesn't work like the new blade throw if up for sale. auger with a set of newly sharpened blades and a spare set would fetch more money than you have in it. If its an authorized blade sharpener I'm sure you will be more than happy from what i read Frank De Luca is the man to do it

My original response was already stated by someone else. I thought you were asking where to buy replacement blades. Sorry. I just got a Nils this year and I love it.

I've never heard of nils being able to be sharpened d/t them having a compound angle on the blade. I could be wrong, but I would plan on just buying a new head for it. It's well worth it.

i got the info by calling nils and trying to order a blade directly from them... they gave me frank's name and number and told me he is the only authorized sharpener. i posted the same question on the utah board and got some good response. i am going to send mine off tomorrow. hopefuly it works but for 20 bucks i figure its worth a shot i will let you know
