This has been up on the fish and game web site for a few days. I'm a little surprised I didn't think of putting it up sooner. They are asking for input.

Go out and give them your opinion. Now is the time to WHINE. Or is that SHINE. Not sure.

Took the survey a few days ago. Sturgeon tag sounds great and so does getting rid of barbless hooks. I may not have to carry twice the flies anymore, half barbed, half barbless.

Survey completed. IMHO I would support a limited Sturgeon harvest above Shoshone Falls.

I noticed this also. I dont mind the way it is because i dont have to remember the date of purchase.. and as for harvesting sturgeon. Ive had sturgeon befor and it wasnt all it was cracked up to be. Had it over in washington.. it tasted like oh i would say a freshly planted rainbow.. and besides if they opend a tag for them then most of the meat would get waisted because some green horn that doesnt know what there getting into would have it all cut up and they would let it rot in the freezer.. to many people that would abuse the tag personaly..

I have to agree with Jeremy on the Sturgeon tag, they are a blst to catch and i hate to see them dwindle in numbers. They are not great table fair, good but not great. I can also see alot of wasted fish. Some guys love to catch a big fish and haul it home to show off but then what ? Most of them end up in the trash cause they sit in the freezer to long and they want to make room for the next big show off prize. I say catch and release is the way to go on Idaho sturgeon. Just my opinion!

I guess I hadn't thought the waste part of that through. Makes sense now that you said it. The reason I said above Shoshone Falls is that Sturgeon would not be native to those waters, all planters. Anyway you guys both make a valid point.
What did everyone get for number 63? I think I messed it up...
Does my experience have to include catching to rate highly?

I eat locally grown sturgeon once and a while. The fish farm I work for has MANY and we eat them for a summer picnic thing. These are hatchery fish and they taste like a trout mort. I voted NO on a sturgeon tag. The F&G are looking at raising money. At 6.50 to put in for a tag they would raise a lot of money. Then there would be the super tag like deer and elk that would be a raffle. They would allow enough harvest that the sturgeon would never get big. They would be put and take 3 to 5 foot fish. I would encourage those to vote NO. Ron

Even though I don't fish for certain species at all, or often, but I want to, should I put that I do? Would that improve the chances of them being stocked? How do my answers affect everything?

I placed my vote on my intentions/wishes so my wishes/interests will count towards my desired outcome.
Hard to say how our votes will affect anything. Overwhelming responses I hope would pose some thought to the decision makers.
Some of the questions/answers could definately have been worded different for what I wish to see.
We can't have it all but can hope what is in place is the best it can be.

I can see your point about waist, but I have a buddy that goes to the columbia and brings some back he gives every one some steaks so it doesnt get waisted. Wild fish tastes a lot like halibet and about the same texture
