drumking, Parksville, spotted bass, yellow perch, 15, Jan. 2012, Bent Rod
#1
Bent Rod and I have a lousy fishing report today. We went to Parksville in search of those yellow striped looking perch. Stupid spotted bass kept getting in the way and they were small at that. We only caught 1 tiny yellow perch (not pic worthy) and 6 bass (again, not pic worthy) and 1 white bass. I did have one fish break my line, but the knot was probably worn. Had been fishing with it for over an hour without retying. No pics. Wind strong enough to be aggravating and cold. I had hand warmers in my boots, so my feet stayed warm and I had enough clothes on that my body stayed warm, but my hands got cold even with gloves.

We saw Craazyboutbass at the ramp and he showed us how to get up the creek without a paddle. We made it in and out without incident or fish either one. Tomorrow is another day. Maybe the perch will show up tomorrow. I fished with plastics for a while, but Rick kept after me to put a minner on and help him not catch fish. So, I reluctantly did. How in the world does anyone put up with those slick little things? emoScratch We saw water temps in the low 40's to mid 40's in different parts of the lake. I think 46 was the warmest spot that we saw. Ice was hanging around the edges in the shady parts of the lake. Perch are supposed to love ice. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
