Hit Island Park today. Was not a fast and furious day by any means, but there were enough fish to keep things fun. One of the bows we caught has an orange tracking tag on its back. It has numbers on it and I was wondering what I was supposed to do about the tag. I know there is someone I should probably contact about it, but I don't know who. Any thoughts?

Write down the number, take measurments of the fish, length, girth, and weight. Record where at on the water body you caught the fish and what on. Call the idaho fish and game and give them all the info. They will send you a thank you in the mail and a sticker in about 3 weeks after you report it.. the sticker has all the instructions on what to do whem you catch a tagged fish.. you dont have to release them or keep them its up to you.. all they want is to know the info above.

You are welcome. Only reason I know this is I caught a few tagged fish last year.. it helps them to know the growth rate and how much they travel.

Thanks for the link! That made the process pretty quick and painless. It mentioned something at the end about "reward tags." How do you tell the difference?

It says "reward" on the tag. I wish I caught one with "reward" on it. Free money for catching fish would be fun.

I caught a couple this year at Chesterfield with tags and just pulled the tag out for memorabilia then entered it in on the web. the IDF&G then sends you a paper with info on the fish. Kinda cool just to have if you collect that kind of stuff.
