I got Candi back on the lake before she goes back to the land of employment. I decided almost before we started to stay out of the river cause I didn't want to shake her up by hitting some big waves. So we stayed close by and fished for crappie. We caught 32 crappie and 2 bass and 1 rock bass that had a birth defect. You can tell by the pic that its tail was deformed.

We caught more little fish than keepers, but it didn't matter. Detecting the bite and setting the hook is what it is all about anyway for me. We fished with Bobby Garland slab slayers and 2" BG Shad minnows. I stayed with sunrise and orange/chartreuse silver in the 1/32 oz all day. Except for one short period where I was showing her a deep drop and we made a couple of cast with 1/16 oz jigs, but the wind was blowing pretty good by that time, so we really didn't fish that spot out.

Candi caught the biggest crappie today, so I'll give her bragging rights. She didn't even do the false bite thing with me today either. That was good. She donated several jigs to crossbars and things of this nature, while I only lost about 2 or 3 for the day.

We found water temps to be 53.6 degrees by a little after 2:00 pm when we stopped fishing. It was about 49 when we started this AM. I'm glad that you got with me today, Candi. We will do this again soon. Maybe we can find the water flow a little more to our liking and the wind not blowing a gale. It wasn't too bad today, really. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
