I am researching how many lines people ice fish with. How many lines are you allowed to use in your state? Please tell me what state you are from in a post.
I'll start. I'm from Idaho. We are allowed to use 5 lines per person with up to 5 hooks per line. I frequently will use up to 5 lines, but rarely use more than 1 hook per line.
Thanks.

with a two pole permit - two allowed in Utah, but you can have two hooks per line.
But carp! You telling me you could shout out "25-Fsh-On!" - maybe I should spend more time fishing Idaho!

here in quebec, laws say in some areas 5 lines and other areas 10 lines, max 3 hooks per line...depends on where your willing to travel to go fish.personally,i find that keeping 5 holes with one line in each is way enough action for me! a few rears ago we had an anlucky guy have his piece of work detach and drift off in the st,laurence river here in motreal...had to be rescued by helicopter...didnt say if the fish were biting that day...how embarrasing, half the province was laughing at the 6 oclock newsTHAT night! ha ha. frosty2332[fishin]

East Idaho 5 lines usually one hook each. 1 or 2 activitly fishing and 3 deadsticking. Or untangeling after my 3 yearold plays with it.

update from Utah- bumping up to 3 hooks per line come 2013... I wonder if an umbrella rig could be spring loaded enough to fit up and down an ice hole?

Probably hang up on the bottom of the hole when your trying to bring up that trouphy fish, but I have thought about that as well, haven't come up with a plan yet.

Arizona with a 2 pole stamp is two poles with two hooks each and you can't leave your poles unattended. 4 hooks in the ice can even be hard to keep up with at times.

I wonder if you were fishing for kokanee, if you could use the flashy blades of one of those rigs, without hooks, to attract them to your jigs and keep them in the area long enough to hook a limit.
