i'm going to take my 4 yr old son out in the morning on his first trip on the ice. just got a new ice tent yesterday and want to take him some where close to ogden and we want to catch some fish any suggestions? this year has been pretty tuff for me to get out there i lost my fishing partner in oct. my dad he was the only one that i could get out there with and lately seems like i cant find anyone to go with. i got my son now but he's only good for about a hour or two and thats just at the river. so i was planning on taking him somewhere close to home but making it count. any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

Welcome to the BFT, sorry for your loss, was there 2 years ago when my dad (fishing partner) passed away. I would suggest Mantua, easy access at the boat dock and there is a parking lot and restroom there. You can also drive down the dirt road south of the reservoir and park were all the other vehicles are parked, and access the lake there (better fishing). Good luck to you, and i'm sure your dad would be proud to see, your passing the fishing torch to your young one.

Sorry for your loss. You could come up to the Rockport Ice Party tomorrow, if that is too far I agree Mantua isn't too far. Good luck, no matter where you end up.

I'm really sorry to hear about you're loss. I lost my Dad in September last year as well and I never the hurt would be so bad so again I am sorry. I'm in Ogden as well if you need a partner send me a pm. I'm more than likely taking my 7 year old up to Lost Creek in the morning. Good luck to you

Sorry for the loss. About my only fishing partner for the last 3 years has been my son he started when he was 4 as well and loves it we went to mantua las week and it is slow slow slow. but east canyon has been treating everyone very well with good healthy fish and even my daughter catches them out there i would recommend EC to anyone just wanting to catch a few fish with out caring about the species if you go out pretty much anywhere on the lake you should get into them with wax worms or a piece of night crawler with a salmon egg next to it. between 8 ft and 12ft down. also i take a bag of jolly ranchers and a hibatchi grill and dogs to keep the kids out there longer.
