EricM, Parksville, Spot and shellcrackers, March 1, 2012
#1
I thought maybe I'd get out on a BEAUTIFUL day and test this year's fishing license to see if it was going to be any good. I wandered up to Parksville to see what I could catch for dinner tonight. Although the yellow perch seem to have gone back deep - or at least somewhere that I wasn't - I did catch one small but beautifully colored spotted bass and four very nice-sized shellcrackers. Today's bait was a nightcrawler rigged on a drop shot type rig and fished where the water dropped off from about 2 feet to 10 feet. Once the wind came up it got harder to control the boat, and since I had dinner in the livewell I left at about noon.

All fish were safely filleted and are awaiting the chef's touch. I should have taken a picture of the filets like drumking occasionally does.
