Scofield On Saturday The 3rd
#1
Fished on the southeast side of lake. We fished 10' to 12' down at a depth of 15' of water. There was 26" of ice and 6" to 1' of slush and water on top of the ice. We started using meal worms and a jig, then switched to an ice fly tipped with 1/3 chunk of red shiner minnow. That seemed to be the ticket. The fish were real finicky. They would hit the tail portion or head portion of the minnow, but nothing else. In all we caught 10 fish. All were cuts but 1. One tiger. They all averaged 12 to 13 inches. We lost 10 others by the hole and missed several bites. Morning seem to be the best. Fishing was fast early and very slow later. We fished from 8 to 6. After talking to others out there, it was the same for them. I advise not to take atvs out on the ice. I seen a few that had a rough go getting out and off the ice due to the slush. I think this will be the last trip I make out this year, but in all it has been a great year on the ice.
