Little Bear Access??
#1
I have never fished the Little Bear here in Cache Valley, and it seems that most of it is surrounded by private land. Where are some public access points? I just wanna give it a try in hopes of finding a few spots to take my daughter back to later. Any help is appreciated! PM if you want.

There really isn't much public access. You can fish down below Porcupine, but that wouldn't be the best place to take your daughter as the water is more swift and the banks are lined with willows.

Looks like there is access near Hyrum. Check out the walk in access page.[sly]

What's that, and where? Got 'o Link?

Someone once told me there's a little park with public access I think it was above Hyrum, but never had figured out where that's at.

I have checked the walk in access page, drove all around where there is supposed to be access and could not find anywhere to get in the river, fences and no trespassing signs. While giving Hyrum a go, a CO came up to see how I was doing and he couldn't tell me exactly where and was a little ambiguous about the access spots. He did tell me that I could park in old field behind the reservoir and hike down from there. He mentioned driving down 6400 South till it ends. There are two areas I found on the DWR site. The first was a hunting/ fishing property but only had .25 miles of access to the river. The other I found under the stream access area and it was listed as private but accessible. The latter was the spot I was looking for, but I could not find any signs saying I could access it. I tried to drop in at bridge, but was greeted with fences and signs. Even though the map said the river access started there. I know of access closer to the Pig, but I didn't venture that far up. Good luck to you and if you find where to get in the river, please let me know.

Yeah I need to start asking, I think you have told me before about asking on the Weber. BTW how is your brother doing, I still want to hit Onieda with him when he is back in town. He gave me some great info on the lake, the river and Powell. I owe him a few cold ones!

Clint Brunson, one of our Walk-in Access managers, noticed this discussion and forwarded the following information:

Access to the property is located on 400 West and 7600 South. There is parking along 400 W and access is by foot heading west into the river bottom on a small dirt road. You'll need to sign in at the box.

If you have additional questions about this, please let me know, and I'll put you in touch with Clint.

+1. Now it'll be hot-spotted for the next little bit! haha.

Isn't below Porcupine artificial only? At least right below? I'm not sure how far out that goes.
I'd be guessing Porcupine's gotta be opened up by now? Or darn-tootin close???

I'm still not finding it (stupid search!). Is there walk-in access page somewheres? Anyone got a link? Tanx

Look under Northern Utah. It is the Sagamore Farms access.

You can also take a look here for access points: http://wildlife.utah.gov/maps/stream_access/

I'm hoping that since I usually only make it out around midday on weekdays that it won't be crowded when I try to go.

I don't know how to post links or pics. I'm glad that alot of people do tho. I knew if I posted that someone would be able to help get directions to this spot. Fish away.[fishin]

So - anyone give it a try, in between the storms and more storms, followed by snow-blizzards?

I'd love to try Oneida sometime. Might actually stand me a chance to catch that elusive Walleye!

I may take a look down there later this week as the forecast looks really nice. I definitely don't do blizzards.

Oneida should be good before too long. The forecast is calling for upper 50s to mid 60s from Wednesday on, that should get things moving. Looks like the river below is getting some heavy flows though, so I'm not sure how that will be fishing.
