DNR to Host Seventh Annual State Archery in the Schools Tournament

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR) will host its seventh annual West Virginia Archery in the Schools (AIS) Program State Tournament at the Charleston Civic Center on Saturday, March 24, according to Krista Snodgrass, program coordinator. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. This year's tournament will be the largest indoor youth archery tournament ever held in West Virginia with 658 students from 65 divisional teams, representing the following 50 schools:

"We at the DNR are encouraged by the success of the Archery in the Schools Program," Snodgrass said. "The program provides students with a life-skill and possibly leading to future indoor or outdoor archery endeavors. Everyone is encouraged to come out and see how successful this tournament, and the Archery in the Schools Program, have become."<br />
Admission fee to watch the tournament is $5 for adults (18 and older) and $3 for children (6-17 years old). Children under 6 years of age get in free.<br />
Tournament competition is open only to schools that have received the DNR-sponsored AIS training. For more information on the WV Archery in the Schools Program or to attend the next training, visit the DNR website at www.wvdnr.gov/archery.
