Oster Lakes
#1
Hey all, I'm planning on trying to fish the oster lakes in Hagerman in a couple weeks, and I'm still kind of Confused how to get there I know it's in Hagerman, by the fish hatchery, but still am Confused about how specifically to get there. I tried to find directions online, but no luck.

Another question is how many lakes are there? I heard there was more then one, so I was wondering how many there were, which ones you all suggest, and what I should use (I will be flyfishing in a float tube). Anyways, let me know!

National Fish Hatchery Rd

Just before you get to the National Fish Hatchery there is a dirt road to the right. It goes to Oster Lake #1. #1 is the most heavily stocked with trout.

You can also look in the Idaho Fishing Planner

The planner show what is in each lake, and it has a map of the lakes that identifies them by number.

In the historical stocking reports look at the Magic Valley region for FRANK Oster Lakes.

Here is a map. The Riley impoundment might be good for a tube. I haven't fished there with a tube. You might also try the Bell Rapids boat dock area.

Getting there is easy. Go south from hagerman 3.5 miles or so and you will see a sign just past the rest area. Turn and go east and that road will take you to the hatchery and the riley impoundment. Ron

There are good fish in Riley Pond and the Oster Lakes, but look at the regulations carefully. The Anderson Bass Ponds aren't open yet.

I have fished both Riley and Oster Lake 1 and done well. I haven't fished the other Oster lakes. I think some of the others also have bass and panfish in them, but I could be wrong on that. I do know that Riley Pond and the lower creek has a few sturgeon.

Here is a little more information on the area..

You people are great. This info. will come in handy for a place to take my son fishing when I go visit him at the Blue Lakes Country Club. I've been wondering where to take him tube/toonin over there where I could have a chance to get into some fish this spring. Kudos

Spent a ton of time fishing this whole area as a kid because it was close to home and we could just be dropped off and picked up at the end of the day. Access is really pretty good with your tube/toon. Feel free to PM me for some direction if you would like.
