is there a trick to keeping your reels tight on your rod???? i tighten down the rod clamp, and while im fishing my reel will come loose.
i know that part of the problem is that it is a wider reel. it is a newell 334. but can you guys think of anything else that may play a part in this????

don't know why it would back off but here a idea to keep it from happening put some nail polish on your threads as a lock tight should hold it tight and "bust" loose easy

Hey there DH_tubinjoe,
Does the reel just turn on the rod handle? Does the plastic reel clamp screws just work loose? Are the screws right for the clamp? Is the clamp the right sizefor the diameter of the rod handle? I assume there is no reel seat!
If none of the above is causing the problem, get some hose clamps and see if the size of the reel is just too big for the diameter of rod blank's handle.
PS Hose clamps did it for me but ya gotta position them so that they don't tear up our hands, foul line, etc.
