Willard Report .. Friday .. 10/11/03
#1
[#008080]Hit Willard with Bait_Caster at about 7:30 Friday morning. Wasn't dificult at all to launch. Winds were keeping the white caps constant. Lots of splash without rain gear made for some wet clold clothes. [/#008080]

[#008080]BC picked up the one and only fish that morning ... a nice hard fighting 3 1/2 lb wiper. That wiper came in about 8:30 about a mile north-east of the light pole. BC caught it on a modified Prism Shad.[/#008080]

[#008080]Seen lots of sonar activity about 100 yards away from the west dike all up and down the dike ... constant. But no other bites. Came in about noon.[/#008080]

[#008080]Went back out again with a friend from work from 4 PM till 7:30. ..... nothing .... Talked to some other guys out there and they had nothing either. Pretty slow.[/#008080]

[#008080]Why was it so slow? Here is my guess (you know me, I'm always trying to figure out the formula): Bright clowdless full moon . + . a low pressure front that moved in . = . slow fishing.[/#008080]

[#008080]Launching in the after noon was a bit of a pain because some jerk launched his boat and then left his rig right there in the way. Ya got to wonder sometimes just what people are thinking.[/#008080]

[#008080]Due to some slick wet spinning, I had to use 4x4 to get out both times.[/#008080]

[#008080]I suspect that wiper fishing will pick up pretty good in the next two weeks.[/#008080]

[#ff0000]Thanks for the update. I've only been wipering once ever before everything dried up, and have been crazy to launch ever since. Do you think I could get that Tracker in there? [/#ff0000]

[#008080]Ya know NOS,[/#008080]

[#008080]I realy do think your Tracker could launch just fine. The further back I went, the deeper the water got. The angle is pretty much like a normal ramp.[/#008080]

[#008080]Here are the problems though, getting out there it's just a little side steep and once there, lots of good size rocks that are a nucence. [/#008080]

[#008080]When backing in, stay about a foot south of the big mud bank. Angle your boat to the north-west as you back in.[/#008080]

[#008080]I think I'm making this sound a lot worse than it is. But I would definately have 4WD handy. It's actually not too bad (unless someone leaves their rig parked in the way).[/#008080]

[#008080]Once you launch, set a good example and park WAY ... of to the North on the hill so that others may enjoy.[/#008080]

[#008080]Oh, one more thing: since there is no dock to tie your boat off, launching is pretty much a 2-man job.[/#008080]

I'm glad to hear you were able to make it out there, it's too bad the catching wasn't better. The guy blocking the launch area wasn't in a red pickup was he? I just can't understand way some people think they are the only people in the world and no one else is important. What do you mean by "slick wet spinning"? Did you have to get your rear wheels in the water? WH2

[#007963]NOS and WH2, sorry for taking so long getting back to you.[/#007963]

[#007963]NOS ... If you would like to hit Willard in a couple of weeks, I'll help you launch your tracker and talk your ear off.[/#007963]

[#007963]WH2 ... The guy blocking the ramp wasn't in red, he was in white. As for "slick, wet, spinning", my trailer must be a little shorter than most. My back wheels were about a foot into the water. That mud turns to greese quick.[/#007963]
