Bass your favorite fish to catch?
#1
I have only caught a couple bass. The biggest being 18'' in length. That was a large mouth. What is it that make it the biggest game fish that fisherman are after?

for me its how hard those suckers pull and also so many diff ways to catch them. nothing cooler than throwing huge swim baits or pitchin giant jigs and them just destroying it.

see when i caught mine i actually had to fight it using 4lb test. I dont understand those guys who use the 50lb test on TV and horse them in and have them on the boat in 3 seconds

yeah, I can see the tournament guys having to pull them in fast, they don't have the luxury to play with them. I'm sure when they're out casually fishing they have fun. I can definitely see the advantages to heavy braid if you're having to pull them out of a big submerged bush or somethin. I can't fish for trout anymore after getting into bass.

That sounds like a tournament angler. Time is money for them. No time to waste fighting a fish, get it in the boat and get back to fishing.

Yeah not to many bass where i live wish there was. Elevation at 6,000 ft, fish as high as 10,000ft gets super cold. But the entire population of wyoming is smaller than alot of cities lol. So small number of people big number of big fish. When i fish my favorite river i catch about 5 trout the smallest being 20''. I use big lures.
There are some ponds that get stocked with bass but most are about 12'' if im lucky....Im in a trout state for sure.

I'm right next door in Utah, the other trout state. I can't complain too much though. The growing season is short but there are a few places to go bass fishing.
Do you ever fish Flaming Gorge? I love fishing up there when the smallies are spawning.

There is just something about a bass, they give me the chills[Image: surprised.gif],I enjoy seeing the bass even if they jump and get away.I began to fish mostly topwater for this same reason.

Its really exciting watching one trying to eat a really big baitfish.I remember bobber fishing for brim as a kid, every so often a huge bass would take my brim and run down the bank with it,leaving me behind "cranking on my old spincast reel"[Image: sad.gif]
