Ice off

Had the opportunity to take my dad fishing for some fresh ice off glory. I apologize for the lack of pictures, but sometimes the camera takes a back seat [cool] Strawberry awaited and we quickly hiked to a spot near an inlet. We quickly got into some slot cuts, but we forgot to take a camera out for them [crazy] . We did get some beefy rainbows a short time later.



I was using some marabou jigs that I tied myself [] pretty good feeling!



Then....the wind came. [pirate][:p][frown] We tried to deal with it, but it got pretty unbearable and made casting difficult...especially with jigs and minnows.
Thus, we moved round the large resevoir and found a sheltered litle cove/bay. The fishing was quick!...but there was hardly anything with size. I lost count of how many small rainbows we got...they basically all looked like this [] meh



There were a couple more somewhat bigger bows caught. This one gave me the best fight of the day.



All in all we had a lot of fun. I was able to try out some new fishing techniques that I'm not so confident in and my dad got into some fish. We had a lot of bows today...woulda liked more cuts, but tugs is tugs. My dad had one shake off right at his feet...he claims it would have been a slot buster...but meh I dunno bout that guy [][cool][:p]
