Just wanted to see if anyone out there knows a good captain to schedule a fishing trip in Tampa for or surrounding areas for tarpon fishing. One of my bucket list things to do. I am going to be there on business and could go fishing on May 29th or 30th.
If TarponJIm is listening, do you know anybody that I could talk to or that you would recommend?

The "good" guides are already booked, as that is PRIME TIME for tarpon in that area. However, there will be so many around that you don't need an expert guide with 30 years of experience to put you on 'em. Do a google search for Tampa Tarpon, as well as Boca Grande Tarpon, and then get to calling. There should still be guides available for that time, and you can get on some cancellation lists. I've never used any nor do I know any in that area, but its tarpon infested at the end of May, and the area in and around Tampa is also guide-infested. Do a little research, compare a few, and pick one. That's what I'd do. Tarpon fishing isn't rocket science in that area, at that time.

Thanks for the helpful information Jim. I will let you know how it turns out. I just want to have the thrill of catching a tarpon and releasing it back to swim another day.
