I have a friend up there this morning trying it out of a boat. He doesn't view or post here on this forum. I will get a report and get back to you.

One person that came in Fish tech yesterday said the berry was all but ice free he could see very little ice...
With the wind the last week it could be more open then ice..
I would take the boat.

Absolutely take your boat, I made a bad decision to not take my boat and just fish from the bank, we went to renegade first and the ice was way out there, plenty of room to get the boat around, the fishing from shore sucked big time but the boats were nailing them. I should have know better. back up there tomorrow with boat in toe. bryants fork to the marina was wide open, quite a bit of ice from the marina over to haws point. Renegade, Meadows area had quite a bit of ice but you could definatly get around in a boat, Indian creek to the renegade boat ramp was open with some ice in the middle of the lake. Lots and Lots of bank tanglers everywhere there was access and it was only Friday!. Maybe I'll hit scofeild tomorrow instead.

I was going to tell you the same things the other posters are saying. I had a friend up there throwing jigs from the shore that did really good, and another friend in a boat that did really good throwing jigs. The fish are active, and will hit lots of stuff right now. rapals, pointers, baits, you name it. In the trips that I have been up there this year, I have seen people catching them on their "favorites".
Take your boat. There are a lot of fish shallow right now. My friend in the boat said he found them in a bout 12 ft of water.
