Pics from my last trip

I posted these on the Utah board, but started thinking that I might share some of the beauty of my state with those of you not from around here. The pics are of Utah Lake located in the central region of the state. It is a popular warm water fishery. I unfortuneatly got skunked that morning, but the scenery more than made up for it (once I got over my brused ego). Next time, I'll bring some bait.

[cool]Of course I saw your post on the Utah board. I like the pics. I have many in my archives of the same scene...sunsets and sunrises...the best times of the day. And, as you so accurately observe, good scenery can help offset the disappointment of bad catching.

One of these days it will all come together for you and you will wonder why you never got into the fish before. Sometimes it is something very subtle. Other times it is nothing more than bad timing...fishing where the fish were yesterday, but aren't today.

Lincoln Beach can be like that. I have caught a lot of fish there, but I must admit to leaving with a skunk in my tube on more than one trip. When you hit it right, though, you will have to have the surgically removed from your face.

You really need to go up the hill to Jordanelle. Fish for the smallies, but be prepared to settle for a basket full of perch...or a couple of rainbows. The smallies are aggressive right now and not too many guys are hitting them. It is possible that an 8 pound plus record will come out of there soon.

There's probably not enough water in the American Fork Boat Harbor this year, but in times past it was a great place to catch a lot of big white bass this time of year. They would gang up around the pilings for the docks and all you had to to was drop a small silver Kastmaster with a piece of worm down there for instant action. That also worked vertical jigging just off the bottom in the other parts of the harbor. I caught a 12# walleye there around the first of November one year jigging a little spoon for whities.

I know I've got to get to Jordanelle. I'll be in Long Beach tomorrow and Sat for a professional conference but am taking Monday off to 'recover' from the trip. Maybe I'll be able to get my kiddies to go up to Jordanelle with me on Monday. We still haven't initiated my new toy yet.
