Hey guys, I'm going channel catfishin today and I was wondering what would the best bait cut bait or worms. I have white bass in my freezer and I was going to use a slip sinker rig. And with the worms I'm going to use 2-3 worms and I going to use a bobber and two hook rig. What would the best bait?

Both. They work great together. I usually always tip my cut bait with worms. The only problem with worms is you will catch more mud cats.

You'd think that cutbait would be the ticket but honestly, I've caught almost as many big cats on worms as cutbait. I do agree that the bigger baits weed out the smaller fish but don't ever count worms out no matter the species. Worms, it's what's for dinner!

Said it before, I'll say it again - it's like Donkeys and Farfait! Everybody loves worms. One tip - snip a tip, open them up to the bleed scent. Seen a rigging that emulated crawdad claws the way the wrapped up the worm But always 'spoil' em. I don't hesitate to squirt some scent on a worm after it's been soaking it the hot tub for a while too. Often get a quick bit after a fresh squirt.
I haven't tried the stacked wacky rigging on worms yet. Still stuck with the mindset of threading and dangling.
But I also agree - the bigger baits to keep little mudcats at bay. A full shrimp is usually too much for them to mess with, plus shrimp are real scent friendly.
Next chance I get - I'm trying a WAD of full on carp guts. I've had mixed results on carp strips, but worms always produce. Though - I'm content with a 2lb cookie. A 10#+ would be way fun, a nice fresh cookie makes a good catch.
But wait - you're from the SOUTH! You should use beer-cap lures for catfish, yeah - THAT's the ticket! [:p]

I highly recommend a two pole permit. one for cut bait the other for worms find what they hit and your set for the day. then I often will switch the pole they aren't hiting for a lure of some sort.

As others have said, they both work great.. In fact sometimes one will work better than the other.

FWIW I've caught far more channel's using a simple crawler, than I have using cut-bait. But those kitties will eat anything with a scent to it.

Try shrimp!!! Shrimp with the hard shell on or at least with a tail. It helps keep the shrimp on if you have to cast very far.... I've done better with shrimp then cut bait or worms..
