My wife actually wanted to go fishing, so I dragged her out of bed at 4:30am and headed out to Callville for a short bass hunt.

I head to my first spot, and wanting a stealthy approach, I kill the outboard about 50 yards away. I start to head in full speed with my trolling motor, and when I was about 30 yards away, a dude in a little bass boat tears in between me and the shoreline at about 45 mph. Profanities ensued (to deaf ears) and I fired up the outboard to head to spot number two.

We pull into the new cove without a boat in sight. I nail a nice bass on my second cast.

A bit further into the cove and a nice smallie goes airborne for me. That was a fat little fish. Only about 13 inches, but she weighed over 2lbs.

We proceed, and I get a couple more hits that don't turn into anything. Finally I hook up, and he only makes it halfway to the boat before coming unbuttoned.

We move on and this little pig eats up my jig. Solid fight to this fish, she was determined to shake that hook.

I lost one more fish halfway to the boat before we called it a day at 9am. Only fished for about 2.5 hours, but it was a fun morning. Wifey didn't catch anything on the spinnerbait she was throwing, but she spent more time working on a tan than she did casting.

My hat is cooler than yours.

John, I think I recognize that cove in your first picture. Julie and I were out Friday and down by Kingman Wash and over by those slides at the entrance to the dam on the Nevada side. Julie caught one smallmouth about 17" pretty deep at the PigPen and later a stripper and a small bluegill on a drop-shot. Water was cooler there than up around Calville for some reason and I don't think the bass were really staging there yet.
