Im going to yuba or maybe redmond thursday i need some help with catching a northern me and my brother got a bet on who is going to catch one first and we both have never fished for them any ideas lures.

At yuba main forage is carp so you can use carp imitating minnows there amongst the other big lures.

Spinnerbaits large rapalas work well for pike in yuba and redmond the best bait i have used in redmond is frozen anchovies fished on the bottom with no weight

I have done best by the dam i have caught plenty of pike there hope this helps.

being from Alberta i have done my fair share of pike fishing (most of my fishing) and a 3.5 inch white grub with a pink head will always work. of course maybe American fish are different, you know us Canadians, we will never say no and be mean, so maybe the fish are the same way.

My favorite lure is the mepps muskie killer, and also mepps scyops.
